Installing it

Five taps. Two of them look scary. Both are normal.

Android treats every app that does not come from the Play Store the same way, so it asks twice before it lets you install. Here is exactly what you will see, in order.

  1. 1

    Tap Download for Android

Chrome may ask File might be harmful, download anyway? It says that about every app file it has not seen on the Play Store. Tap Download anyway. Progress shows in your notifications, not on this page.

  2. 2

Tap the file when it finishes

It is in your notifications, or in Files under Downloads, named elpo-v1.1.0.apk. If the download stopped part-way, tap Resume instead of starting again.

  3. 3

    Allow installs from your browser

Your phone may say it is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, go back, and tap the file again. Android asks this once per browser.

  4. 4

Google Play Protect may warn you. That is expected

The app did not come from the Play Store, so Play Protect calls it unknown. That is normal for a direct download. If it offers to scan the app first, let it. Then tap Install anyway; on some phones it hides under More details.

  5. 5

    Install, open, sign in

Tap Install, or Update if ELPO is already on the phone. Then Open and sign in with the email and password you already have, or create your account in the app. The first sign-in offers to set an app lock PIN.
